The PC Convertible: IBM's first laptop, a clamshell with two 3.5-inch drives and an LCD that hinged back, in 1986. Slow, expensive, and it lost to Toshiba and Compaq almost immediately. Its real legacy is the 3.5-inch drive, which IBM's adoption made the standard. Uncommon, and the snap-on modules are the parts that go missing.
