The PC-98 in its Windows era: a 486 with the Multi-Canvas graphics that gave the platform proper 256-colour modes, sold as NEC defended its position against DOS/V clones. This is the generation that runs both the Japanese gaming canon and Windows 95, which makes it the practical PC-98 to own.
