The GameCube's efficient architecture turned into a small white console with motion controls and a mass audience. It was weaker than the Xbox 360 and PS3 on paper and beat them both in the living room. Early models play GameCube discs and take GameCube controllers; later family editions quietly remove that useful half of the machine.
