Apple's first failure, and an instructive one. Aimed at business, it was designed without a fan on Jobs's insistence, and the heat lifted the chips out of their sockets — the official advice really was to drop the machine on a desk to reseat them. Recalled, revised, and abandoned. Worth having as the object lesson that paid for the Apple II's continued life.
